Trusted Diamond Jewelry Appraisals

Halo engagement rings are hugely popular and for good reason. They are known for their radiant beauty and sparkle with many unique styles.

Don Bennett is a certified Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and a Registered Supplier of the American Gem Society (AGS) for over 35 years. He has been appraising diamonds and fine jewelry for thousands of customers and has been issuing certified jewelry that are accepted by all insurance companies at current replacement cost.

Don Bennett recommends that all of an individual's fine jewelry be insured as "jewelry rider" to their homeowner's insurance policy. This is a procedure in which the individual receives from a qualified experienced Graduate Gemologist, two copies of a certified fine jewelry appraisal, (one he gives to the insurance agent, one he keeps for his records), which spells out the following:

  • An identification of each individual jewelry design, listing:

  • Its metallic weight (in DWT. and/or GRAMS)

  • The quantity of each individual gemstone

  • The measurements (in millimeters) of each individual gemstone

  • The approximate (or exact) weight (size) of all gemstones.

  • The approximate (or exact) total weight (size) of all gemstones

  • The internal "Clarity" of each gemstone.

  • The body "Color" of each gemstone

  • The "Cut" (proportion Grade) of each gemstone

The current "replacement cost" of each in dividual jewelry design, based on the selling price of the metal on the world market (i.e.,14K, 18KT., Platinum) on the day the appraisal is prepared.

Don Bennett furnishes a certified jewelry appraisals FREE OF CHARGE: on any design of fine jewelry that he sells, and he will update that jewelry appraisal every 3 years at No Charge. He recommends that all fine jewelry owners obtain a Fine Jewelry Appraisal on each of their fine jewelry designs and have each design's appraised value updated every 3 years.

Don Bennett's Appraisal Service Charges

In most cases, a Certified Fine Jewelry Appraisal can be prepared by Don Bennett for 1 to 3 jewelry designs in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours (while the customer waits). All appraisals are done in our in-house Gem Laboratory, so that the customer is not inconvenienced in having to leave their precious, valuable jewelry to be "Sent Off" through the mail to an out-of-town Appraiser. Nor does the customer have to wait weeks to get their jewelry back or wait several days for an appraiser (who is not a fulltime employee) to come in one day out of the week, which is the case with a lot of retail jewelry stores in the Low Country. For this 1 to 1 1/2 hour appraisal service at Bennett's Fine Jewelers, in Statesboro, GA., telephone Don Bennett for appointment at:
